Допоможіть налаштувати Ubuntu Janty Grusha edition

Не можу зрозуміти в чому може бути проблема. Як тільки в консолі виконаю sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg перезавантажую систему - запускається без скрінів про виявлені помилки. Заходжу в центр керування КДЕ щоб поміняти розмір екрану з 1600х1200 на 1280х1024 (бо все мініатюрне неможливо читати і око вловлює миготіння екрану), перезавантажую систему і знову ті самі скріни про тісамі помилки.
Чи то КДЕ глючне? Чи то в мене залізо ржаве? Дивився в логфайли, якби немає інформації про небажане розрішення 1280х1024.
Чи є інший спосіб поміняти розмір екрану і частоту "ручками" по замовчуванню? Буду дуже вдячним, та спробую експериментувати далі.

Якщо написати "Emulate4Buttons "true" і той самий Driver "mouse" , чи так не годиться? :-/

Спробував запустити зі своїм xorg.conf. За інформацією із Xorg.0.log прийшлось витерти лишнє мною написане в рядку FontPath залишити тільки "/usr/local/share/fonts".
Тепер маю наступне повідомлення  із Xorg.0.log:

Настройки модлайнів і мишки відношення до вашого питання, напевно, теж ніякого не мають. В першу чергу пробуйте видалити з системи всі драйвери nvidia, потім сам файл xorg.conf і запускайтесь без нього
