JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary position, part-time or full time (no
less than 30 hours per week), 3 months
JOB TITLE: CONSERVATION OFFICER ASSISTANT
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: UKRAINIAN UNION FOR BIRD CONSERVATION
JOB LOCATION: Kyiv, UTOP office
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
NEED TO START WORK: early July
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Assistance to the implementation of the
UTOP's mission in conservation, restoration and promotion Ukrainian
part of global network of internationally important sites for birds
and the environment.
MAIN DUTIES:
1. Provide translating and editorial assistance with preparing
conservation related printing materials (about 80% of working
time).
2. Participate in:
- planning, coordinating, scheduling and conducting of
conservation related workshops and seminars;
- planning, coordinating and implementation of conservation
projects;
- preparation and dissemination of information (management book,
newsletter, leaflet, poster) regarding site conservation activities.
3. Perform other essential duties and implementation of projects
as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1. Higher education (at least BSc Diploma) in Biology,
Environmental Studies, Translation, Journalism or related
fields.
2. Experience in translating scientific materials, preferably in
Biology and Natural Resources Management.
3. Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word,
Excel are of critical importance).
4. Basic operational knowledge of current graphic design
(Photoshop) and layout (QuarkXPress) software.
5. Ability to operate without assistance with computer equipment,
fax, copying machine, slide-projector & overhead projector.
6. Editorial and interpreting skills.
7. Ability to prioritise, plan activities to meet deadlines.
8. Ability to learn quickly in the changing environment.
9. Interest and some knowledge in birds and nature conservation.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Inside the Organisation:
- The position demands close working with IBA/Conservation
officer and coordinate to the extent necessary with Director of the
UTOP, Development officer and other staff of the UTOP office to ensure
that the work serves, to the extent possible, the goals of the UTOP.
Outside the Organisation:
- ornithological scientific and amateur circle;
- other environmental organisations;
- printing houses involved in UTOP project conducting.
